KDAT

KDAT is Kiln Dried and Treated lumber (as opposed to 'green' or 'wet' PT).  It is dryer (20% moisture compared to 40%+), straighter and less prone to shrinkage, warping, cupping, twisting, splitting than wet PT lumber.  It can be stained immediately without waiting for the lumber to dry out (an unspecific amount of time).  Undried lumber is subject to months of drying and still subject to peeling / poor adhesion of stain.

• Demolition of existing deck
• Excavation / landscaping
• Anything other than square / rectangular dimensions
• Special decking layout - picture frames, on a diagonal, designs

Features that require additional estimating

• Over 6' off the ground
• Multi-level
• Lighting / Electrical
• Roof / pergola covering and any windows / doors
